Prominent elder shot dead in Mogadishu
Unidentified armed men have reportedly killed prominent Somali elder in the capital Mogadishu on Saturday morning. Witnesses confirmed to Radio Dalsan that armed men armed with pistols shot dead the elder identified as Abdi Siyad Gedi. The Elder was shot dead at the goat market in Daynile district. Late Abdi was among the electoral college who elected members of the current federal parliament. After the incident, Somali police have reached the scene and cordoned it off for investigation, however, no suspect was arrested in connection with the murder according to an eyewitness. No group has claimed responsibility for the murder of the elder but Al Shabaab militants have in the past killed electoral delegates who participated in the election process.
