Somalia Senate Speaker writes to international Community for intervention on Electoral team controversy
The Speaker of the Upper House of the Federal Parliament of Somalia has asked the UN and the European and African unions to intervene in thr controversy over electoral teams. Abdi Hashi Abdullahi sent a two-page letter to the United Nations Special Representative for Somalia James Swan, some European countries and the African Union calling on them to intervene in the country's 2020/2021 elections. Hashi accused President Farmajo and the Prime Minister of violating the country's laws and appointing Somalia's electoral commissions illegally. Abdi Hashi, the speaker of the Upper House, has previously opposed the Federal Electoral and Parliamentary Election Commissions from the northern regions of Somaliland appointed by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.
