Suspected Alshabab member arrested launching mortar shell in Mogadishu

Security forces have conducted security operation in the Somali capital of Mogadishu on Friday and arrested a suspect who was planning to fire mortar shell, officials confirm. According to the security forces the operation was carried out in Daynile district and arrested Mohamed Hassan Ali is an Alshabab member while trying to fire Mortar shell to the recently opened Mogadishu stadium. Benadir regional Deputy Security Commissioner Mohamed Abdullahi Tulah said the suspect will face the full force of the law and will soon appear before the court to answer charges. “This man (suspect) was planning to fire mortar shell but our security forces foiled and arrested him before he could do anything,” Tulah said "I commend the security forces who are on high alert to save the people of Benadir region from the enemy's machinations,'' he added. Al-Shabaab has been fighting against the Somali government for more than decade staging frequent attacks in the country.
