Class 8 students in Somalia commence exams amidst covid19 fears

National exams have kicked off today as over thirty-seven thousand of 2020 class eight candidates write their tests that mark their transition to secondary schools despite the COVID-19
According to Somalia's minister of education, Abdullahi Goddah Barre the students will practice social distance and wear face masks.
 
Secondary schools are also set to reopen on July 4th and start their national exams on July 18th.
Somalia closed schools in mid-March to slow down the spread of COVID-19 the disease caused by the coronavirus.
Somalia has so far recorded 3038 cases of COVID-19 and 92 deaths.
