Somalia confirms 66 new COVID-19 cases, as total rises to 2,579
Somalia's coronavirus tally has climbed to 2579 after 66 people tested positive for the virus over the past 24 hours. Speaking during the daily update on the pandemic, health minister Fowzia Abikar Nur 55 of the new patients male while 11 are female. Of the new cases, Somaliland has 46 cases followed by Puntland with 12 as Banadir region recorded 5, Southwest state 2 and Jubaland 1. The minister also announced that 27 people have recovered from the virus bringing the total number of recoveries to 559. Two more people have succumbed to the disease taking the number of fatalities to 87. Minister Fowzia Abikar Nur has urged members of the public to take the ministry of health set measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
