3 EU staff in Somalia test positive for COVID19
Three European Union staff members in Somalia have tested positive for coronavirus. The confirmation was announced by EU Envoy for Somalia Nicholas Berlanga. He said the three were tested after they showed symptoms of the disease and that they are now in quarantine. All those who were in contact with the three people were also placed under quarantine. The EU envoy said the mission will take all measures recommended by the World Health Organisation in order to contain the spread of the deadly disease and protect the employees of the EU office in Somalia. The development comes days after an AU peacekeeping soldier and a UN worker tested positive for the virus at the Halane camp in Mogadishu which houses the UN, The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), and other international agencies.
