Government orders Isha and Taraweeh prayers to be conducted at home over coronavirus curfew
Members of the public will now conduct Isha and Taraweeh prayers in their homes in a new government directive.
Ministry of endowment and religious affairs said the orders are in compliance with a revised curfew from 7 p.m to 5 a.m.
The ministry held a meeting with some of the Muslim scholars and asked members of the public to comply with the curfew, and asked people to pray at their homes during Isha and Taraweeh prayers. Minister of endowment and religious affairs Sheikh Nur Mohamed Hassan said the decision came after the government imposed the revised curfew which took effect last night at 7 p.m. "If we were doubting this virus we now have over 300 cases of covid-19 we need to be more careful.'' said minister Sheikh Nur Hassan.
