Somalia Ambassador To Ethiopia Presents His Credentials To Ethiopian President
Somalia’s ambassador to Ethiopia Ali Sharif Ahmed presented his credentials to the Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde on Thursday, in a gesture that is expected to boost relations between the two states. According to a statement from Somalia’s Foreign Ministry, the ambassador conveyed greetings of President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed "Farmaajo" to the Ethiopian President: “The Somali President wished her the best of the health and also wished the government and people of Ethiopia, further progress and prosperity,” said the statement.
On her part, the Ethiopian President entrusted the ambassador to convey her greetings to President Farmaajo and best wishes and prosperity to the people of Somalia. Relations between Somalia and Ethiopia have lately improved following an agreement signed by Somalia, Ethiopia and Eritrea. However, details of the agreement remain a secret, a matter that has created confusion among many Somalis.
Recently, Somali lawmakers unsuccessfully filed an impeachment motion against the President accusing him of getting on board more Ethiopian and Eritrean troops to Somalia. Local residents have in the recent past reported a large number of Ethiopian troops crossing over the border to Somalia and headed to Gedo and Lower Jubba regions of Jubbaland State of Somalia.
