Robow Is Out Of SW Race, Poll Commission Says
The South West State Electoral Commission on Sunday confirmed that regional presidential candidate Mukhtar Robow will not contest in the December 19 elections. The commission said that Robow'a name will not appear on the ballot box. Only three candidates addressed the state assembly on Sunday as they pitch their proposals for election. The three on the race are Adnan Mohamed Nur (Saransoor), Hussein Osman Hussein and Ibrahim Moalin Nunow. Abdiasis Lafta Garren and a 5th candidate will speak today. Robow was arrested on Thursday for allegedly reneging on agreement with the Federal Government of Somalia. His arrest triggered three days of unrest where at least 16 people were killed. The international community has asked for dialogue in the wake of the former Alshabaab deputy leader.
