Somalia and UNHCR discuss Somali nationals trapped in Libya

Geneva, October 03, 2018 - The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Amb. Ahmed Isse Awad, met in Geneva, Switzerland, with the Commissioner of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Mr. Filippo Grandi, and discussed with him the voluntary repatriation of Somali refugees in Kenya, Yemen and Libya.
The fruitful meeting, which also discussed the provision of urgent assistance to refugees before and after voluntary repatriation, was attended by the Permanent Representative of Somalia to the United Nations Office at Geneva, H.E. Amb. Faduma Abdullahi Mohamud (Insania), Somali ambassador to Benelux and the European Union, H.E. Amb. Dr. Ali Said Faqi, Commissioner for the National Commission for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, Mr. Ahmed Abdikarim Nur (Ahmed-Dahir) and Somali Special Envoy for Immigrants and Children's Rights, Ms. Mariam Yassin Haji Yusuf.
