Somalia Cabinet Approves Aviation and Airspace Bill

Somali cabinet on Thursday approved the Horn of Africa country's first Aviation and Airspace bill. The bill drafted by the Ministry of Aviation was tabled for discussion at the weekly cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire in the Somali capital Mogadishu. Mohamed Abdullahi Salad Somalia's Aviation Minister told the cabinet that a lot had gone to research and consultation prior to the drafting of the bill to ensure it met international standards. December 28 Somalia took control and management of it's airspace after 27 years being run by the United Nations International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regional office in Nairobi following the collapse of the Siad Barre government. Somali President Mohamed Abdulahi Farmajo officially inaugurated the offices and equipment installed at Mogadishu International Airport.
