ICRC Confirms German Staff Kidnapped In Mogadishu
Aid agency ICRC has confirmed that a German staff working has been abducted in the Somali capital Mogadishu. "She is a nurse who was working every day to save lives and improve the health of some of Somalia's most vulnerable people" Daniel O'Malley ICRC deputy head of delegation for Somalia said in statement. "We are deeply concerned about the safety of our colleague" he added. ICRC sfatement did not give the name of the staff although Radio Dalsan had identified the German nurse as "Sonia". She was abducted atound 8pm at the ICRC compund in Mogadishu Police have arrested private security guards manning the compund. "The ICRC is in contact with various authorities to try and secure her release" said O'Malley . "We call for her immediate and unconditional release," he added.
