Somaliland Parliament To Probe Whether PM Khaire's Former Company Somaoil Is Contracted To Import Oil, Terms This "Dangerous" Somaliland's Parliament Anti Corruption Committee on Wednesday was on a fact finding mission at the Berbera port to ascertain which companies are sub-contracted to import oil into the breakaway regio. The committee said the contracted oil importer had declined to give information regarding companies subcontracted. Chairman of the committe Nasir Haji Ali Shire said they had reveled that SomaOil Company limited is among the companies contracted to import oil. The committee said they found this dangerous alleging the company is owned by Prime Minister Khaire. "We have known that the fuel tank stores are in bad situations because there are enemies who are cooperated and benefitting in Berbera port of which Berbera oil group failed and refused to disclose the owner" Shire told reporters. "We have confirmed that the prime minister of Somalia is a share holder in this cooperation."Shire added. Shire insinuated that ownership of company importing oil by an executive of the Somalia goverenment is "dangerous" to Somaliland's interests. Prime Minister Hassan Khaire had served as the Executive Director of SomaOil since its inception. Upon his appointement as the Premier tge UK Company announced on the 23 February that Khaire had tendered his resignation. "Mr. Khaire has resigned from the board and has relinquished all his shares in the company" a statement from the company said.
