Jawari Survives As Proposed Motion Of No Confidence Flops
A proposed motion of no-confidence motion against the Lower House of Parliament Speaker Mohamed Osman Jawari failed to get the required number of MPs to support it. Radio Dalsan has learnt that of the 107 MPs who had earlier backed proposed motion 16 opted to outlive 91 signatories. The proposed motion required 92 signatories to be presented to Parliament. There have been allegations linking the Villa Somalia to the proposed motion. Notably, a majority of the signatories were Ministers and Deputy Ministers. The MPs on Tuesday submitted the signatures to the Deputy Speaker. They accused signed Jawari of being an impediment in the constitutional review process and abusing power and of suppressing MPs in Parliament. Hawari has been the Speaker of Parliament since August 2012.
