Farmaajo Appoints Committee To Supervise Galmudug, Puntland Projects
Somalia President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmaajo said his tour of North Eastern and Central Somalia achieved its goal of reconciliation and development. In a speech delivered to the nation on Wednesday Farmaajo said the 17 day tour gave him opportunity to assess the needs of the people in Puntland and Galmudug. “It was an opportunity for the public to know the government and the government to know the public” Farmaajo said. “People are ready to work with the government especially in security and the government is ready to work with them” he said. Farmaajo tour of Galmudug and Puntland was dubbed the reconciliatory tour. “We started the reconciliation process in Galkaayo. The process had started months ago. The related communities in that town have an agreement and lefty General Abdiweli Gorod and team in the region to complete reconciliation process” he said. Several projects were launched during the tour including road construction, hospitals, port schools and prisons. Farmaajo said that a supervisory committee had been established to follow up on the projects initiated and pledges made on the tour. “Government will do all its best to make sure its services reach the public since what connects the two is the services” he said. The more than 1000km tour is the longest by a President in post civil war Somalia.
