Two Killed In An Early Morning Explosion In Mogadishu

One security officer was killed and one civilian injured in an early morning explosion in Mogadishu, Somalia. Locals in the area told Radio Dalsan that there was an explosion when a convoy of African Union peacekeeping (AMISOM) troops were passing through the ‘warshadaha’ road. According to the witnesses, a mine that was planted in the ground had exploded when AMISOM vehicles passed over it. One government security officer and one civilian who were both passing the road have died but AMISOM’s casualties are not known as the forces immediately closed the incident scene and were seen shooting into the air. So far AMISOM has not issued any statement about the incident. After some time, the situation in the area has settled and the movement of vehicles and people have come back to normal.
