Defence Minister Abdullahi & Army Chief Jimale Forced To Resign By PM In Somalia's Latest Crisis
Somalia Defence Minister Abdirashid Abdullahi Mohamed and the Army Chief Ahmed Jimale Irfid have resigned.
The top defence officials resigned on Thursday following what sources say was pressure from the Prime Minister office.
The source told Radio Dalsan that the two lacked cooperation with the Office.
"They were forced to resign. It was either they resign or are fired. They settled to resigning" an official at the PM office told Radio Dalsan.
The Army Chief has been immediately replaced by Gen. Abdi Jama Warsame.
A source has told Radio Dalsan that the PM has already identified the man to place the Defence Minister.
Before his appointment Abdullahi worked in the NGO world and as an activist before he was made a SouthWest State Interior Minister.
