Galmudug Crisis Escalates As High Court Judge Flees To Puntland After Validating Haaf's Impeachment
The High Court Judge in Galmudug has gone into hiding in Galkaayo in neighbouring Puntland after he upheld the impeachment of the region's President Ahmed Geele Haaf. On Tuesday the High Court passed a verdict said the removal of Haaf , his deputy Mohamed Araby and Speaker of Parliament as legal. A source told Radio Dalsan that the judge Yahye Sheikh Ali feared for his life following the courts decision. Speaking to Radio Dalsan exclusively embattled President Haaf said he will not respect the court decision terming it invalid. Galmudug has been in a crisis ever since a section of MPs removed the President over for supporting the Saudi led coalition in the ongoing Gulf crisis. A communiqué from the mediation team made up of Federal Mps concluded that the Impeachment of Haaf was executed out of the legal limits after an interested party sponsored opposing Mps into voting at a private hotel room. Haaf has vowed not to step down and on Sunday declared a state of emergency to contain the escalating situation.
