Galmudug Talks Collapse, Mediators Blame Farmaajo's Office Interference

A two day talks aimed at resolving the ongoing political stalemate in the Galmudug regional has  collapsed. In an official statement released by the mediating group made up of Federal Parliamentarians the talks failed because of interference from the Villa Somalia. The team farther warned that continued interference by the Federal government and the Presidents officer threatened to throw the region into a disarray. “We have established that officials from Villa Somalia were deployed here and have been campaigning for a candidate to replace the current leader. They used public resources and the national army to frustrate any efforts of reaching a solution to the crisis” the statement claimed. Galmudug has faced a stalemate ever since MPs impeached President Haaf on Tuesday. The President has declined to step down. He is been opposed by his deputy Mohamed Hashi and the Speaker of regional parliament Ali Asir. The mediation team claimed in its statement that the impeachment was conducted at a private hotel room paid for by an interested party favored by  Villa Somalia. “We urge Villa Somalia to desist from further interference in Galmudug as it would threaten relations,” the statement warned. The political riffles in Galmudug were triggered when President Haaf defied federal government  stance on the Gulf Crisis and declared support to Saudi led coalition. Deputy Hashi and Speaker Asir opposed the move creating a rift that has led to the current stalemate.
