Regional States Heads Back Haaf Accuse Govt Of Interference
The presidents of Jubaland, Puntland, Hirshabelle, South West have termed the impeachment of Galmudug President Ahmed Haaf as a calculated move by the Federal government that may destabilise country. A statement issued jointly by the regional heads questioned the government's quick response at asking Haaf to accept the decision by MPs. “If the political crisis facing the country continues, coordination between the Federal Government and Federal Member States will deteriorate and this will significantly affect the war on terror,” the statement said. The heads said Haaf was targetted because of his backing of the Saudi led coalition in the Gulf Crisis. “The misunderstanding between the Federal Government and the states over the Gulf issue has led to a targeted campaign by the Federal Government against Galmudug to remove the state president. The statement from the government is evidence of this move,” the leaders said. Haaf was impeached by the Galmudug Parliament on Monday a day after he returned from the UAE. A delegation of senators and elders on Wednesday met the ousted Haaf as efforts to diffuse the tension in the Galmudug crisis were underway.
