Somali journalist advised not to risk their life for news

SIMHA strongly condemns the Wednesday Suicide Car Bombing attack that injured seven Somali journalist in the strongest possible terms .   The condition of the journalists is now stable . SIMHA officials visited the journalists at the hospital to follow up on the condition   The seven were injured when a second explosion occuered while they were covering suicide bombing at the Hotel Dayax in downtown Mogadishu   The injured are as follows Abdi Qadar Abdullahi Mohamed - Radio Kulmiye, Farah Abdi Warsame - AP Photographer Mohamed Abdiwahab –AFP Photographer Yusuf Jabuuti - AlJazeera Arabic TV Abdulkadir Mohamed Ga’al - Horncable TV Maxamed Abdihakim Gurey- Foresight Production. Mohamed -Freelance Journalist.   All the journalists are still undergoing trauma despite been discharged from hospital   “SIMHA sends its sympathies to the people of Somalia who suffered losses during the attack and wishes a quick recovery to the injured journalists”     “Somali Journalists should not risk their lives in the process of gathering news There is less training, less responsibility, and some reporters are taking increasing risks through an eagerness to get the first hand news, which may endanger them. Journalists must take maximum precaution and protect themselves” Hassan Gesey the Chairman of SIMHA said   Somalia which is experiencing an insurgency and a 24 year civil war is ranked as one of the most dangerous countries to practice journalism
