90 Somalis deported as trump cracks first whip on immigrants
At least 90 Somalia nationals deported from the US landed at the Aden Abdulle International Airport on Wednesday, an immigration officer confirmed to Radio Dalsan. The deportees escorted by US Special Forces are said to have been living in the US as illegal aliens. “ I can confirm that some 90 people have just arrived at the airport. They have been deported and I can see American troops about 10 to 15 of them guarding the deportees ” staff management of immigration Abdirahman Adle told Radio Dalsan. Radio Dalsan news desk contacted Deputy Ambassador Thabit Abdi in Washington DC and he confirmed that 90 Somalis had accepted to be deported back to Somalia. The Embassy refuted any claims that it pressured for the deportations. “US has a new policy on the immigration as Somali Embassy we can only confirm our nationalities and that is our duty “ Ambassador Ahmed Awad said. He however asserted that the deportation process had started before Trump took over White House. Analyst Abdishakur Haji is of the opinion that the deportation is a stamp that Trump policy are now in effect and that Africans and especially Somalis will be the main target. The deportation comes two days after Donald Trump assumed presidency . He is expected to sign executive orders restricting access to the US by refugees from Somalia , Syria, Sudan , Yemen , Libya Libya, Iraq and Iran. Somalis on Social media had mixed reaction to the deportation. “It seems we are going to make Somalia great again. Welcome home” Abdifatah Hassan a youth activist tweeted. Somalis in the diaspora however argued that it was to unsafe for the 90 Somalis to be deported back to Somalia. Lawyer Said Muse told radio dalsan that Somalia is not safe so is a international law that some can nit be deported his home unless his feeling safe.
