A delegate shot dead as Lower House election resume in Adado city
A member of the country's electoral college was shot dead in Adado town, the interim administrative headquarters of Galmudug state as the lower house chamber election recommenced on Wednesday. The clan elder, whose name has not been released up till now has been killed by AU soldiers at the entrance of a polling station as he was en route to cast his vote among candidates, sources said. Djiboutian and Burundian peacekeepers serving with African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) have been deployed last month to Adado city to protect the electoral sites, airport and presidential palace. Tension run very high in Adado following the murder of the delegate as clan disputes threatened early voting to elect Galmudug representatives to Somalia’s Lower House of the federal parliament. Despite the anxiety, the election for the lower house has resumed, with more parliamentary candidates have been elected, including Ex information minister Mustaf Dhuhulow and warlord Botan Isse Alin.
