Jubaland says no welcome for Somali refugees from Kenya.

Jubaland regional state of Somalia on Monday declared that they will not welcome Somali refugees from Kenya due to a broken promise.

There was an agreement between Jubaland regional state and the UNHCR where theJubaland administration offered 10,000 acres (4,047 hectares) of land for resettlement of the returnees.

Authorities said they have now suspended the agreement and that refugees will not be allowed to cross toJubaland because they can not take the large number of returnees.

Kenyan Interior Ministry spokesman Mwenda Njoka in an interview on September 19 said the Kenyan government wants donors to build schools, hospitals and facilities to cater for relocated refugees.

“It is unfortunate that the Somali refugees returning from Kenya are not being welcomed in their own soil. The federal system in Somalia is totally wrong“, Somali intellectuals told Radio Dalsan.
